Academics

Get the “if” out.

“If I can take that class.” “If I can study abroad.” “If I get funding for an internship.” The University of Richmond is not a place of “if.” We are a place of “yes.”

No two Spiders are the same, so we believe your academic experiences should follow suit. We’re here to help you make the connections — between you and new ideas, you and brilliant people, you and far-off places.

When you’re equipped with the unique resources and opportunities available here, you might as well take “if” out of your vocabulary.

Majors & Minors

“Rigorous.” That’s the number-one word that students use to describe the Richmond curriculum. Explore our programs and consider where your talents, combined with the Richmond experience, can take you. You’ll see why the second most frequent response is “rewarding.”

Foundational Curriculum

You will begin your academic journey in Richmond’s Foundational Curriculum, which serves as a “web of inquiry” that will prepare you to be an inquisitive and engaged 21st-century citizen and leader. You will graduate with deep knowledge within your chosen major as well as a multifaceted worldview that will prepare you for rapidly changing job markets and evolving global landscapes.

Schools

Intellectual partners.

At Richmond, you won’t just learn from your professor. And you won’t just help your professor with a project or with their research. You will be an integral partner in making it all happen. Your teachers become your mentors, your supporters, and your confidants. And when you graduate, don’t be surprised when you have two, three, or more favorite professors who keep in touch with you long after graduation.

Your Passport to the World

More than two-thirds of our students study abroad. Explore our many travel options and see why it’s no surprise that our Spiders are an international species.
