University Communications

The Office of University Communications' mission is to promote the University, its people and programs by communicating news and information with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents of students, the news media and the general public. The office also directs the University's strategic marketing efforts to enhance Richmond's national visibility and reputation.

University Communications executes this mission through four distinct, yet interdependent, departments:

Marketing Communications

  • Drives all aspects of the University's strategic brand creation and execution, both in print and online
  • Provides print and online marketing, editorial, design and production assistance for campus divisions and schools

Media and Public Relations

  • Serves as the University's full-service, in-house public relations counselors and official spokespersons
  • Acts as liaison for all University contact with local, regional and national news media

Community Relations

  • Serves as a conduit between the University and local civic and business organizations
  • Facilitates the exchange of information and the formation of partnership opportunities within the Greater Richmond community and beyond

Alumni Publications

  • Handles editorial management and publication of the University's two alumni magazines, Richmond Alumni Magazine and Richmond Law magazine
