I am an ethnomusicologist, performer, percussionist, improviser and composer specializing in contemporary music, intercultural composition and traditional and avant-garde musics of Southeast Asia. At the University of Richmond I teach courses on world music, ethnomusicology, humanities, Asian music, globalization and I direct a Balinese gamelan ensemble for students and the community.
Current News:
I'm horrible about updating websites and keeping track of email, correspondence, facebook etc etc. This is my annual attempt to catch up.
Recent events have included performances with Gusti Sudarta and Eighth Blackbird, studio work for Billy Martin's experimental films, and the publication of two major articles on Balinese music.
Upcoming events include a performance at the ISSUE PROJECT ROOM in Brooklyn, summer research tours in Ghana and Bali and a presentation of my latest research at the ASEASUK conference in Liverpool.
I will also be keeping a blog of my research notes during my summer travels. |
