The
Recreation and Wellness department is committed to
providing optimal recreational opportunities for
students, faculty, and staff. Free memberships will be
available to all University of Richmond full-time
students, full-time faculty and staff, and retired
employees. All other part-time students and employees
will be charged a discounted membership fee.

of the membership fee structure website.
Are
memberships available to alumni and community?
The
significant increases in facilities and equipment have
provided us the opportunity to offer a limited number of
memberships to alumni and community members. Our target
market will be young alumni and senior citizens where
usage patterns are often different than students. The
number of memberships sold will be carefully monitored
to ensure participation numbers do not adversely impact
the use of facilities and equipment for our students,
staff, and faculty. The revenue generated will offset
the operating costs of the facility in order to expand
hours, recruit and hire additional staff, and purchase
additional equipment and supplies.

of the membership fee structure website.
Access is controlled by a biometric hand
reader and is this system secure?
Participants enter their ID number into the keypad which
prompts them to enter their hand into the hand biometric
reader. Our decision to use the hand biometric system
is a result of research at other colleges and
universities. It was determined this system will
provide easy access for our users and provides the most
accurate account of participants and information data
management. One of the most attractive features of the
hand biometric system is its efficiency. Your hand
cannot be lost, forgotten or stolen like a password or
ID card. Identities protected by biometric security
cannot be transferred to another person, stolen, written
down, copied or compromised.

Are lockers available for check-out and how can
we reserve a locker?
Students, staff, and faculty will be eligible to
check-out lockers at no cost. There are a limited
number of lockers available on a first come first serve
basis. In addition, day lockers are available to all
members and users of the facility. Visit
this website for Faculty and Staff rental information
and

Can university groups pay to reserve and rent the
facility and can outside groups rent the facility?
Facility rental fees have been established in response
to an increasing demand for use of recreational
facilities. Fees are based on other campus facility
rental models and facility rental comparisons in the
local community and at other colleges and universities.
Academic and university events scheduled and approved by
the Registrar’s Office and President’s Office and
Athletic and Recreation activities will not be charged a
rental fee. All other university groups, university
sponsored groups, and non-university sponsored groups
will be required to pay facility rental fees.

Are there job opportunities for
students and jobs available for non students?
Increased programs and operational hours equal increased
employment opportunities. Our goal is to provide
employment opportunities for University of Richmond
students. The Weinstein Center new and expanded
operational hours during breaks and holidays are not
conducive for students and as a result more job
opportunities will be available to the campus community.
