University of Richmond dining center wins gold for superior performance

September 22, 2008

The National Association of College and University Food Services (NACUFS) has awarded the University of Richmond top honors in the annual Loyal E. Horton Dining Award competition.

The university received the gold award in the medium-sized school division. Dining services staff underwent comprehensive judging based on several wide-ranging categories, from marketing to nutritional soundness. Richmond scored above 90 percent in every criterion.

To compete for the award, colleges must be a member of NACUFS, an organization whose schools fully administer their own food programs.

"We're competing against some of the best," said Dee Hardy, director of food and auxiliary services.
