University of Richmond to hold 10th annual Trick or Treat Street Oct. 18; children's Halloween festival to benefit 3-year-old's liver transplant

September 16, 2008

Haunted houses, crafts, pumpkin painting, magicians and games are some of the activities planned for the 10th annual Trick or Treat Street Halloween fair for children at University of Richmond Oct. 18, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. The rain date is Oct. 19.

Children also will be able to trick or treat for candy, have their faces painted, enjoy several moon bounces and participate in a costume contest.

Sponsored by the university's fraternities and sororities, the event is held on Fraternity Row across from the Robins Center off of College Road.

Admission is $10 per child and proceeds will benefit 3-year-old Cole Hafer of Richmond, whose family and friends are raising money through the Children's Organ Transplant Association so he can have a life-saving liver transplant.

"We look forward to this event every year, but this year is special since we're working to support a local child. Helping Cole has become very meaningful to us," said Chris Lucas of Wantagh, N.Y., co-chair of the event.

Trick or Treat Street was begun in 1999 to create a safe, fun and festive atmosphere for children to spend an afternoon with their families while raising money for a local philanthropy.
