Colleen Curran to Speak at University of Richmond

Colleen Curran, a local novelist and short story writer, will speak at University of Richmond Sept. 27, 7 p.m. in the Brown-Alley Room of Weinstein Hall. Her appearance is sponsored by Friends of Boatwright Memorial Library.
Curran will speak on “Writing the First Novel.” She is a graduate of New York and Virginia Commonwealth universities. Her short stories have appeared in literary magazines and consumer magazines, such as Jane. She has freelanced for local and national publications, including the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Richmond Magazine and Glamour. Currently, she is lifestyles editor of Timesdispatch.com.
Curran is author of the novel “Whores on the Hill,” which was selected as a May Must Read by Glamour, featured in the Los Angeles Times and selected as a best debut by National Public Radio.
