State Department, NAFSA to Sponsor Workshop on Internationalization of Campuses at University of Richmond
September 9, 2003
The University of Richmond will host "Supporting and Facilitating Internationalization on Campus," a three-day workshop sponsored by NAFSA: Association of International Educators and funded by the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, Sept. 12-14.
Deans and directors of international education representing some 75 American colleges and universities, including William and Mary, Duke and the University of California, Davis, will attend the workshop, designed to assist them with development of internationalization.
Uliana Gabara, Richmond's dean of international education, will speak on "Comprehensive and Integrated Internationalization: The Richmond Model" during the event, to be held on the campus. Nearly half of Richmond's undergraduates study outside the U.S. for some period during their undergraduate careers. Students from 67 countries will attend the university this fall.
Other speakers will represent the American Council on Education, the State Department, and the Delegation of the European Commission to the United States.
