Build It offers pre-registration for class groupsBuild It 2005 will take place April 4–10. Students, faculty, staff, alumni and community partners will join together to build a Habitat for Humanity house and beautify three schools in the Varina school district of Henrico County. The student steering committee encourages professors to take a “hands on” approach to learning by taking their classes to the Habitat site to participate in the build. To facilitate this process, Build It is offering preferred group registration for professors who would like to take advantage of this opportunity. Preferred group registration allows professors to register their students for the shift that best corresponds with their class period before the registration process is opened to the entire University community. There are four shifts available each day, and each shift can accommodate a maximum of 60 people. All participants will be transported to and from the build site by bus. The shifts listed here include the time it takes to transport participants to and from the University: Available shifts April 4–9 include:
To register their classes, professors should e-mail buildit@richmond.edu with their name, date and time of the shift they prefer, and the names and e-mail addresses of the students participating. Once this information is received, Build It organizers will send a confirmation to them along with further details about the project. The deadline for preferred group registration is Monday, Feb. 28. On March 14, registration will be opened to all members of the University community on an individual basis. For more information, please visit www.student.richmond.edu/~buildit. Questions can be directed to buildit@richmond.edu. |
