Distinguished educators

Faculty gathered Aug. 24 for the annual Colloquy, during which six members of the faculty received the 2005 Distinguished Educator Awards. From left, they are: Dr. John H. Earl Jr., associate professor of finance; Dr. Catherine L. Bagwell, associate professor of psychology; Dr. John T. Gupton III, professor of chemistry and the Floyd D. and Elisabeth S. Also during Colloquy, President Bill Cooper discussed the importance of unleashing potential and told faculty they will be students’ chief inspiration and guide. Dr. Kwame Appiah, Laurance S. Rockefeller University Professor of Philosophy and the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University, spoke about social identity and identity politics.
