Faculty receive tenure, promotions, reappointments


The University's Board of Trustees has granted tenure to seven members of the faculty, promoted 11 and reappointed two to endowed positions effective with the fall 2006 semester. Three members of the faculty will receive emeritus status on their upon retirements.

The actions were taken at the board's March meeting.

Those receiving tenure include Lisa N. Gentile, who will join the University as associate professor of chemistry; J. Michael Harrison, assistant professor of geography and environmental studies; John Marx, assistant professor of English; Miriam McCormick, assistant professor of philosophy; David S. North, assistant professor of finance; Douglas Szajda, assistant professor of computer science; and Sydney Watts, assistant professor of history.

Promoted to full professor were Dana-Nicoleta Lascu, associate professor of marketing; Ping Li, associate professor of psychology; Daniel J. Palazzolo, associate professor of political science; and J. Thomas Wren, associate professor of leadership studies.

Promoted to associate professor were Krista Fischer-Stenger, assistant professor of biology; J. Michael Harrison, assistant professor of geography and environmental studies; John Marx, assistant professor of English; Miriam McCormick, assistant professor of philosophy; David S. North, assistant professor of finance; Douglas Szajda, assistant professor of computer science; and Sydney Watts, assistant professor of history.

G. Scott Davis was reappointed to the Lewis T. Booker Professorship in Religion and Ethics, and Frank E. Eakin Jr. was reappointed to the Marcus M. and Carole M. Weinstein and Gilbert M. and Fannie S. Rosenthal Jewish and Christian Studies Chair. Both appointments are from 2006-12.

Frederick Kozub will assume the title associate professor of psychology, emeritus; Robert M. Nelson will become professor of English, emeritus; and Elizabeth Spindler Scott will become adjunct professor, emerita, upon their retirements in spring 2006.
