Faculty receive promotions, tenure, appointments
Anita Hubbard will hold the title of director of computer science laboratories, emerita, effective on her retirement in May. The honor was voted by the Board of Trustees at its March meeting.
The board also made the following promotions, tenures and appointments:
- Promoted to professor were Sharon Feldman, Spanish; Della Fenster, mathematics; Gary Greenfield, mathematics & computer science; Carol Parish, chemistry; Dean Simpson, classical studies; Dean Croushore, economics, Nancy Ridgway, marketing; Chris Cotropia, law; and James Gibson, law.
- Promoted to associate professor were Monika Kukar-Kinney, marketing; Kristen Jakobsen Osenga, law; Noah Sachs, law; and Crystal Hoyt, leadership studies.
- Faculty members granted tenure included Monika Kukar-Kinney, marketing; Valaria Vendrzyk, accounting; Chris Cotropia, law; James Gibson, law; Crystal Hoyt, leadership studies; and Mari Boor Tonn, rhetoric (to be appointed associate professor in 2009).
- Faculty members appointed or re-appointed to endowed chairs, professorships or fellowships included Gary McDowell, re-appointed to the Tyler Haynes Interdisciplinary Chair in Leadership Studies, Political Science and Law; Amit Eynan, appointed to the CSX Chair in Management and Accounting; David North, appointed the David Meade White Distinguished Teaching Fellow; Dean Croushore, re-appointed the Rigsby Fellow in Economics; Pat Fishe, re-appointed the Patricia A. and George W. Wellde Jr. Distinguished Chair in Finance; Gerard Gilfoyle, appointed to the Clarence E. Denoon Jr. Professorship of Science; April Hill, appointed to the Clarence E. Denoon Jr. Professorship of Science; and Uliana Gabara, re-appointed the Carole M. Weinstein Chair of International Education.
