UR tweets

People who want the latest information about the University now have a new way of keeping up-to-date on the latest campus happenings via UR “tweets.”

The University recently established an official page on Twitter, the free micro-blogging site where users write text-based posts, or “tweets,” of 140 characters or less. UR’s Twitter page is maintained by communications staff in departments and schools on campus. Administrators of the site regularly post updates, and Twitter users who choose to “follow” Richmond’s updates will receive the tweet on their page as soon as it is posted.

Visitors to the University’s Twitter page—www.twitter.com/urichmond—will find news, announcements and events.

Twitter is used for a variety of communications purposes. Colleges and universities and businesses are using Twitter to post news and comments and facilitate discussion on various topics of interest to their core audiences. Some professors are using Twitter in college classrooms to enhance learning. News media use Twitter to post a brief description and Web address for stories recently published online.

Visit www.twitter.com to set up an account and begin following the University online.
