President Edward Ayers will be joined by Drew Gilpin Faust, president of Harvard University, and Gary Gallagher, the John L. Nau III Professor of the American Civil War at the University of Virginia, to discuss various dimensions of the war and its consequences.

Installation ceremony

President Ayers will be installed and give his inaugural address, in which he will reflect on Richmond’s past, present and future.
Inaugural picnic

Jack’s Flat Bluegrass will provide entertainment, along with performances and exhibitions across campus to showcase students’ musical and dance talents, academic and community engagement, and cultural and ethnic diversity.
Eco-Spider announcement

President Ayers will announce the winner of the Eco-Spider Challenge.
