Five Richmond faculty members received the University's 2007 Distinguished Educator Award at colloquy. The award recognizes full-time professors for "a consistent record of outstanding contributions to excellence in education" and includes a $3,000 gift for professional development.
Recipients of the awards were (from l.): James Gibson, associate professor of law, who specializes in intellectual property law; Dr. Mirela S. Fetea, associate professor of physics, who is an expert in nuclear theory; Dr. Michelle L. Hamm, associate professor of chemistry, who holds a National Science Foundation career award; Dr. Joanne B. Ciulla, professor of leadership studies and the Coston Family Chair in Leadership and Ethics, who is an expert in leadership ethics, critical thinking and conflict resolution; and Dr. Rick Mayes III, associate professor of political science, who is an expert in ADHD, health care, mental health care and Medicare policy.
