Faculty approved for tenure, promotions

The University’s Board of Trustees has granted tenure to six members of the faculty and approved promotion for nine faculty members, effective with the fall 2007 semester.

The actions were taken at the board’s March meeting.

Those receiving tenure include Mirela S. Fetea, assistant professor of physics; Michelle L. Hamm, assistant professor of chemistry; Ben R. Mayes III, assistant professor of political science; James W. Monks, assistant professor of economics; William Jason Owen, assistant professor of statistics; and Andrew C. Szakmary, associate professor of finance.

Those receiving promotion to full professor include KimMarie McGoldrick, associate professor of economics, and Jonathan B. Wight, associate professor of economics and international studies.

Promoted to associate professor are Mirela S. Fetea, assistant professor of physics; James Gibson, assistant professor of law; Michelle L. Hamm, assistant professor of chemistry; Ben R. Mayes III, assistant professor of political science; James W. Monks, assistant professor of economics; William Jason Owen, assistant professor of statistics; and A. Benjamin Spencer, assistant professor of law.
