University of Richmond alumni who are members of the faculty or staff have double the reason to contribute to the 2006–07 Annual Fund.
A member of the University’s Board of Trustees, who wishes to remain anonymous, is offering to match dollar-for-dollar up to $25,000 all unrestricted contributions to the University from alumni faculty and staff made before June 30. Dave Johnson, vice president for advancement, first announced the challenge at the UR In The Know information sessions on Sept. 13.
A second challenge to faculty and staff alumni comes from the senior class gift committee, which seeks a 70 percent participation rate in this year’s senior class gift drive. The senior class is challenging alumni faculty and staff to beat 70 percent participation. Progress toward the participation goals will be monitored on large “thermometers” on display in Tyler Haynes Commons. In order to count, all gifts and pledges must be paid by June 30, 2007, the close of the University’s fiscal year.
The senior class has already secured nearly 150 gifts, representing 21 percent of the Class of 2007 and more than $14,000 in contributions and pledges. The current average gift from participating seniors is an impressive $129.
The University’s 358 alumni faculty and staff will soon receive more information about the challenges.
