George L. Hiller, J.D., adjunct associate professor, School of Continuing Studies, was recently elected to the Board of Governors for NASBITE (North American Small Business International Trade Educators). The "Southwest Virginia International Business Study in Mexico" program that he directs at the Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center received the NASBITE 2006 Program Excellence Award at the organization's annual convention.
David Leary, university professor, presented invited addresses at the Fourth International Conference of Dialogical Science in Braga, Portugal, and at an international workshop on "Explanation and Understanding" in Berlin, Germany, in June 2006. His article on "Psychology" has just appeared in the fourth volume of Scribner’s new encyclopedia Europe 1789-1914.
Thomas Shields, director of the Center for Leadership in Education, Jepson School of Leadership Studies, co-authored an article, “Civic and Political Leadership Education,” in Academic Exchange Quarterly. The article also was featured on Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government’s Government Innovators Network.
