Jackie Lee, ’09, Amy Coan, ’08, and Evan Wang, ’09, conducted research over the summer on HIV protease inhibitors as part of professor Carol Parish’s summer research group. A record 119 students—up from 92 last year—spent time on campus over the summer conducting research. The Undergraduate Research Committee funded an additional 20 students over last year, and the number funded by other means also was up. The University is almost halfway to its goal of having 250 students completing summer research or some other creative activity on campus each summer. This year’s number is more than double that of five years ago.
