Women in the Know conference to look at impact of economic crisis on women, college admission, safe schools and more

KimMarie McGoldrick, professor of economics in the Robins School of Business, will discuss the economic crisis and its effect on women at the eighth annual Women in the Know conference May 29 at the University of Richmond.
Sponsored by Westhampton College, the conference will be held at Jepson Alumni Center from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Cost is $50, which includes breakfast, lunch and a reception.
Mini-courses, all taught by Richmond faculty or administrators, include:

- Demystifying the College Admission Process
- Intimate Relationships: What Psychological Science Can Teach Us
- Are Our Schools Safe? An Examination into Domestic Terror, Violence on Campus and Managing the Fear of the Unthinkable
Women in the Know builds on the university's commitment to putting theory into practice in the community and “reminds participants of all ages about the joy of learning and the power of knowledge in both their personal and professional lives,” said Juliette Landphair, dean of Westhampton College.
McGoldrick has taught courses on economic principles, statistics, labor, industrial organization and public policy, economics of poverty and discrimination, and women and gender issues in economics. She is an active member of the American Economic Association's Committee on the Status of Women in the Economics Profession.
