Classics scholar Elizabeth Craik to discuss ancient medicine and Greek tragic dramas in separate lectures March 24 and 25 at University of Richmond

British classics scholar Elizabeth Craik will lecture on ancient medicine and Greek tragic drama in two separate lectures March 24 and 25 at University of Richmond.

Her March 24 talk at Jepson Hall, Room 120, on "Trouble with Glands? Hippocreates to the Rescue," will cover ancient medical treatments. The March 25 lecture at Jepson Hall, Room 103, "The Myth of Philoctetes: Sex and Violence," will focus on Greek tragedy. Both are scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m.

Craik is the editor of several new editions of ancient texts. She received a Leverhulme Emeritus Fellowship in 2003 to support her work on the Hippocratic Treatise on the Eye. She is an associate professor in the school of classics at the University of St. Andrews.
