Former presidential campaign manager Joe Trippi to host forum at the University of Richmond

October 21, 2008

Joe Trippi, former presidential campaign manager for John Edwards and Howard Dean, will speak at a forum about the upcoming election at the University of Richmond Oct. 23.

The Jepson School of Leadership Studies is sponsoring the event, scheduled for Jepson Hall, Room 118, at 4 p.m.

Trippi will sign copies of his book "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised: Democracy, the Internet, and the Overthrow of Everything" at the University Bookstore an hour before the forum.

Trippi has had a long career as a Democratic campaign worker and consultant. In 1979, he worked on his first presidential campaign, supporting Sen. Edward Kennedy (D-Massachusetts). In 2004, he was named a fellow at the Institute of Politics at Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, before signing on with Edwards in 2007.

In his book, Trippi recounts time he spent as the manager of Howard Dean's 2004 presidential bid, weighing the campaign's successes and failures.

Both the forum and book signing are free and open to the public.
