October 31, 2007

Edmund D. Pellegrino, M.D., chairman of The President's Council on Bioethics and leading bioethics scholar, will discuss the balance between ethics, science, medicine and technology in "Bioethics and Human Happiness: Problem, Promise and Illusion" Nov. 28, 12:30 p.m., at the University of Richmond's Jepson Alumni Center.

He has published 24 books and more than 550 articles on the subjects and is both professor emeritus of medicine and medical ethics and adjunct professor of philosophy at Georgetown University.

The lunchtime lecture is part of "Preparing for Responsible Leadership in Health Care," an on-campus program presenting ethical and policy issues to students interested in health care careers. The program is funded by a grant from the Claude Moore Charitable Foundation.
