Westhampton College Pairs Up with Sororities to Bring Rape Education Speaker to University of Richmond

October 3, 2006

University of Richmond will present a coed rape education program at the Jepson Alumni Center’s Robins Pavilion on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m.

The presentation—“Kristin’s Story: A Story of Acquaintance Rape and Depression”—is an account about rape victim Kristin Cooper, a former Baker University student and member of Alpha Chi Omega Fraternity, who committed suicide on New Year’s Eve 1995. Her mother, Andrea Cooper, a member of Delta Delta Delta Fraternity and a graduate of Florida State University, presents the program.

The presentation is funded by a grant from the Alpha Chi Omega and Delta Delta Delta foundations to the Westhampton College Dean’s Office. University chapters of Alpha Chi Omega and Delta Delta Delta, the Office of Student Activities, the Department of Athletics and Counseling and Psychological Services are co-sponsoring the event.

The program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Angie Harris, assistant dean of residence life for Westhampton College, at (804) 289-8470.
