University of Richmond Mortar Board Chapter Recognized for Outstanding Achievement

University of Richmond’s Mortar Board chapter has been presented with the Silver Torch and Project Excellence awards for the 2005-06 academic year by Mortar Board Inc.
The chapter is one of 40 chapters around the country to receive the Silver Torch Award for timeliness and dedication while exemplifying the ideals of scholarship, leadership and service.
The chapter was also one of 27 chapters to receive the Project Excellence Award for two projects—the Mortar Board president’s forum “Scholarship, Leadership, and Service: Student Engagement Through the Years” and a bookshelf painting and donation to a pediatric office in a low-income neighborhood of Richmond.
Founded in 1918, Mortar Board Inc. is a national honor society recognizing college seniors who show distinguished ability, achievement in scholarship, leadership and service. The organization has more than 200 chapters, which promote leadership on campus communities, create an effective environment for communication, achieve meaningful goals and uphold the ideals of society.
