University of Richmond Reschedules Talk by Evelyn Fox Keller for Dec. 6

Due to a medical emergency, the talk by Evelyn Fox Keller, scheduled for Nov. 10 at the University of Richmond, has been rescheduled.

Keller will now speak Dec. 6 at 7 p.m. in North Court Reception Room. The lecture, “Innate Confusions: Nature, Nurture and All of That,” is free and open to the public. It is sponsored by the Women Involved in Living and Learning and Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies programs.

Keller is professor of the history and philosophy of science at M.I.T. She received a B.A. from Brandeis University and a Ph.D. from Harvard, both in physics. She has taught at the University of California at Berkeley; Northeastern; S.U.N.Y. at Purchase; and New York University.

Her research focuses on the history and philosophy of modern biology and on gender and science. She is author or editor of several books, including “The Century of the Gene” and “Making Sense of Life: Explaining Biological Development with Models, Metaphors and Machines.”
