University of Richmond Providing Heating Assistance Grants to Employees With Financial Need
November 3, 2005
University of Richmond will make available a grant of up to $200 to employees who earn below a pre-determined income threshold to help them cope with the higher cost of home heating this winter.
Katherine Douglas, associate vice president for human resources, said the university is enacting the program in an effort to offset significantly higher energy prices expected this winter due to Hurricane Katrina, which could break some workers’ household budgets.
Full-time employees of the university will be eligible to apply for the one-time grants. The idea of heating assistance came from an employee suggestion.
