November 2, 2004
Dr. Fredric M. Jablin, professor and E. Claiborne Robins Distinguished Chair of Leadership Studies, was found dead at his home on Oct. 30. Jablin joined the university in 1994 and was a highly respected member of the faculty. The Henrico County police department is investigating the circumstances of his death and officially confirmed Jablin's identity only this morning.
"The Jepson School is saddened and shocked at the loss of our colleague, Fred Jablin. He was a dedicated scholar, a respected teacher and a friend to all of us. He provided guidance and support to everyone and personified the school's central mission of service to others. Our prayers and sympathies are with his children and his many friends," said Dr. Kenneth Ruscio, dean of the Jepson School.
A campus memorial service in honor of Jablin is being planned and details will be announced at a later date. Both the Chaplain's Office and Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) are available to assist students, faculty and staff.
