University of Richmond Staff Members Receive National Awards

The American College Personnel Association presented awards to two staff members of the University of Richmond's Westhampton College dean's office.
Janelle Perron Jennings, assistant dean for programming and leadership development, received the outstanding service award from the standing committee for women. It is presented to the person who best promotes professional and personal development of women. Jennings has worked at the university eight years and holds a B.A. from Saint Anselm College and a master of education degree from VCU.
Samantha J. Ortiz, assistant dean for residence life, received the outstanding doctoral student award from the standing committee for graduate students and new professionals. A doctoral degree candidate at the University of Northern Colorado, Ortiz holds a B.S. from Colorado State University and an M.A. from the University of Northern Colorado. Her dissertation examines the Hispanic-White biethnic collegiate experience.
