University of Richmond's Walter Green Honored by American Academy of Medical Administrators
May 20, 2003
Walter G. Green III, program director of the Emergency Services Management degree program in the University of Richmond's School of Continuing Studies, has been named a diplomate in the American Academy of Medical Administrators (AAMA).
Green, who also is assistant professor of emergency management at Richmond, will be recognized at AAMA's 46th annual conference in San Antonio in November. He is one of only 30 members to be given the designation. The academy's 2,500 members are people who manage health care systems, hospitals and health care delivery systems.
The title diplomate, based on education, research and participation, is bestowed "to indicate achievement of true excellence within health care administration," according to AAMA. Only members who are fellows of the academy can earn the designation. Green became a fellow last year for his overall career contributions to the field of health care.
When Green began the ESM program at Richmond five years ago, it was one of only four in the nation. Now there are nearly 70. Green is a former director of emergency operations for the Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services. He also is a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and author of several books and articles on emergency medical services.
