University of Richmond to celebrate 55th anniversary of Brown v. Board of Education decision at downtown campus

The University of Richmond will celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Brown v. Board of Education court decision overturning school segregation with a panel discussion April 10.
The program, titled "Brown at 55," will explore legal and historical aspects of the case and its significance to the greater Richmond area in the post-Brown era. It will begin at 12:30 p.m. at UR Downtown, 626 E. Broad St., and is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
Speakers will include State Senator Henry L. Marsh, offering his historical perspective as a key litigator opposing Virginia's massive resistance response to the decision; Jonathan Stubbs, a Richmond law professor and editor of a book about the case; and Lauranett Lee, curator of the Virginia Historical Society, who will discuss the case in the context of the civil rights movement in Virginia.
