University of Richmond School of Law symposium April 2 will examine detaining terrorists

Six legal scholars, including two who practiced at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, will discuss "Detaining Suspected Terrorists: Past, Present and Future," at a symposium April 2 at the University of Richmond's Jepson Alumni Center.

Sponsored by the University of Richmond Law Review, the symposium is the annual Allen Chair Symposium. A series of presentations will run from 4-7 p.m., and the program is open to the public at no charge. CLE credits will be available.

The sessions and speakers include:

  • The Role of the Judiciary and Proposals for Reform, with Stephen Vladeck, American University Washington College of Law, and Benjamin Priester, Florida Coastal School of Law
  • The Supreme Court and Lawfare, with Tung Yin, University of Iowa College of Law
  • Detention for the Search of Laptops, with Nathan Sales, George Mason University School of Law
  • Guantanamo Bay and Detainee Rights, Past and Future, with Kyndra Rotunda, Chapman University School of Law, and Kristine Huskey, University of Texas School of Law, both of whom practiced at Guantanamo Bay.
