Author-scholar to discuss modernism in D.H. Lawrence April 6

Author and scholar Mark Wollaeger will speak about modernism in the writings of D.H. Lawrence at the University of Richmond April 6 at 4 p.m. in Weinstein Hall's Brown-Alley Room. The event is sponsored by the English department and is free and open to the public.
Wollaeger's lecture, "Cyborgs and Indians: Locating Lawrence's Modernism in America," will explore the modernist themes of technology and ritual by investigating Lawrence's fiction and travel writings.
Wollaeger is a graduate of Stanford and Yale universities. His books include "Joseph Conrad and the Fictions of Skepticism" and "Modernism, Media and Propaganda: British Narrative from 1900 to 1945," and several edited volumes on James Joyce. He is a professor of English at Vanderbilt University and co-editor of "Modernist Literature and Culture."
