C-SPAN Campaign 2008 Bus to visit University of Richmond campus, showcasing network's broadcast, online presidential election information tools
March 27, 2008
The C-SPAN Campaign 2008 Bus will stop at the University of Richmond April 1, offering the campus and area community a close-up look at its broadcast and online resources for voters in the upcoming presidential election.
The bus' "Road to the White House" tour will stop outside Tyler Hanes Commons on Richmond Way, next to Westhampton Lake in the center of campus, from noon-2 p.m. C-SPAN staff will offer individuals and groups an introduction to the cable network's election-related programming.
The network hopes to increase political awareness among young voters, educate the public about the political process and showcase C-SPAN election news coverage. Equipped with a full production studio, the bus also has covered many events during the presidential campaign.
Since last January, the 45-foot vehicle has stopped at more than 71 college and university campuses. It has also visited state capitals, middle and high schools, and civic groups.
The public is invited to visit the bus anytime during its stop at the university. Richmond's professors have been invited to take relevant classes to the bus for 10-to-15-minute sessions. Admission is free. Parking for visitors from off-campus will be available in Lot C, located on UR Drive between the Special Programs Building and Westhampton Way.
