Expert to share perspective on globalization at University of Richmond

March 13, 2007

A leading expert on globalization and business outsourcing will share his perspectives in a lecture at University of Richmond March 27. Antonio Riera, senior partner and director with Boston Consulting Group, will present his speech, "Globalization—Friend or Foe?" in Camp Concert Hall at 4 p.m. A networking reception will follow in the Booth Lobby.

Riera will discuss globalization, demographic shifts, mobility and new technologies and explain both the nature of the changes as well as the skills required to succeed in and build flexible strategies for today's global world.

"We are very fortunate to have someone with Dr. Riera's international business expertise to share his wealth of knowledge with the university and Richmond community," said Jorge Haddock, dean of the Robins School of Business.

Riera has broad experience in transaction services and recently led Boston Consulting Group's research efforts on outsourcing and insourcing business propositions. He led several case studies on outsourcing and ventures including: a market assessment and strategy development for outsourcing to India, a strategy and operational conversion plan for a U.S. securities insourcer, and HR insourcing.

The speech is sponsored by the Watts Lecture Series and the Robins School of Business. The speech is free and open to the public, and there is free parking in the Modlin Center parking lot. To reserve a seat, contact Scottie Howard (804)874-2210 or ehoward4@richmond.edu.
