The Modlin Center presents William Ferguson, tenor with Kenneth Merrill, piano

March 1, 2007

A passionate concert and recital performer, Richmond native William Ferguson has performed with the American Symphony Orchestra, Opera Orchestra of New York and the Richmond Symphony. He brings his talents to Camp Concert Hall on Monday, March 26 at 7:30 pm.

Also in demand as an opera performer, Ferguson appears frequently with leading opera companies such as New York City Opera, The Metropolitan Opera and The Music Academy of the West. Following his appearance in Santa Fe Opera's American premiere of English composer Thomas Adès' The Tempest, The New Mexican wrote, "His light tenor could bite as well as purr seductively, and he acted the part of the tortured creature with abandon."

Pianist Kenneth Merrill, currently on the coaching faculty of The Juilliard School vocal arts department, will accompany Ferguson. Merrill is also on the faculty of the Manhattan School of Music where he teaches song repertoire, accompanying and vocal-instrumental ensemble.

After performing in 2005's Handel's Messiah at the University of Richmond, Will Ferguson returns to campus with a recital focusing on "Gods, Faith and Spirituality," featuring songs by Franz Schubert, Charles Ives, Samuel Barber, Aaron Copland and others.
