Duke, University of Richmond to convene conference on women's programs

March 15, 2007

Duke University, in collaboration with University of Richmond, will host a conference for colleges and universities that have replicated Richmond's Women Involved in Living and Learning (WILL) program. The two-day event will be held at Duke March 29-30.

Because of successful replication workshops organized by WILL, there are now several WILL-like programs across the nation, including at Duke; University of Michigan, Dearborn; University of Maryland, Baltimore County; The College of New Jersey; Tulane; Washington and Lee; and Winona State University.

WILL is the first university program in the United States to combine coursework in women, gender and sexuality studies with leadership training for women students. WILL's mission is to connect theory and practice, teaching students how to apply insights from their coursework to leadership and action in support of social change.
