University of Richmond Program to Address Preservation in 21st Century Richmond
March 11, 2004
A panel of local preservationists, including two architectural historians and the editor of Inform magazine, will discuss "Historic Preservation in 21st Century Richmond: What Questions Should We Be Asking?" in a program at the University of Richmond March 31.
Edwin Slipek Jr., architecture critic of Style Weekly magazine, will moderate the program, which begins at 7:30 p.m. in Jepson Hall, room 118. It is open to the public at no charge.
Panelists include Vernon Mays, editor of Inform, a regional architecture and design magazine published by the Virginia Society of the American Institute of Architects; Burt Pinnock, partner, BAM Architects and member of the City of Richmond Commission of Architectural Review; Mimi Sadler, historical architect and principal in Sadler & Whitehead Architects PLC; and Marc Wagner, architectural historian and national register manager, Virginia Department of Historic Resources.
The program is the last of three lectures in the 2004 Urban Practice and Policy Forum, titled "Historic Preservation and Urban Sustainability: A Future for the Past." It is sponsored by the Richmond Quest, which encourages extended campus discussions of a single question, and the Historic Richmond Foundation.
