China Scholar to Lecture at University of Richmond

China scholar Michael Yahuda will lecture on "China's 'New' Diplomacy and the Future of U.S.-China Relations" April 7 at the University of Richmond.
Yahuda, professor emeritus of international relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science, is an authority on Chinese policy making. He will talk about China's theory of "peaceful ascendance," the foreign policy mantra formulated by the current Communist leadership that came to power in 2002-03.
Yahuda is the author of such books as "China's Role in World Affairs," "Hong Kong: China's Challenge" and "International Politics of the Asia-Pacific Region, 1945-95."
The speech, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 3:30 p.m. in Room 118 of Jepson Hall. The event is sponsored by the Office of International Education, the Department of Political Science and the International Studies Program.
