Sustainability Series Continues April 3 at University of Richmond

March 25, 2002

Environmentalist, entrepreneur and best-selling author Paul Hawken will appear April 3 along with Dennis Creech, a writer and co-founder of a nonprofit environmental research organization, in the final program of the University of Richmond's series on "Sustainability and the Built Environment."

The program, "Economy and Development," will be held at 7 p.m. in room 118 of Jepson Hall. It is free and open to the public.

Hawken is the author of six books, including "The Ecology of Commerce," voted the 1998 top college text on business and the environment, and "Growing a Business," which became the basis for a 17-part PBS series shown in 115 countries and viewed by more than 100 million people.

Creech writes the House Doctor column, a regular feature in the Atlanta Journal Constitution and is the author of "A Homebuyer's Guide to Energy Efficient and Passive Solar Homes." Creech co-founded and serves as executive director of Southface Energy Institute, a nonprofit organization that conducts research in energy, sustainable technologies and applied building sciences.
