University of Richmond's School of Continuing Studies to Offer Pipe Organ Class
March 26, 2002
The University of Richmond's School of Continuing Studies will offer a two-night course in pipe organ April 2 and 9.
Edmund Tompkins, an instructor at the school and director of music of River Road Presbyterian Church, will teach the course at the church from 7:30-9:30 each night.
"I've been playing the organ for more than 20 years, and everyone from the pipe organ enthusiast to the curious student who is just interested in what makes the 'king of instruments' tick will learn something," Tompkins said. Tompkins will play Bach, Couperin, Mendelssohn and Brahms, as well as contemporary composers.
To register, call Laura Carter, noncredit program coordinator at the School of Continuing Studies, at (804) 287-6331. The fee is $47.
