FOUR UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND ALUMNI MAKE TOP 10 VIRGINIA LAWYERS LIST

March 8, 2001

Four University of Richmond alumni have been named to "The Legal Elite," the top 10 Virginia attorneys for 2000, by Virginia Business magazine.

Donald K. Butler, James C. Roberts, Louis A. Mezzullo and William A. Walsh Jr. all were named to the list.

Butler, with Morano, Colan, Cook & Butler, was named top family law lawyer. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the university.

Roberts, with Mays & Valentine, was named top litigation lawyer. He has a law degree from Richmond. He also is on the university's board of trustees, and the Virginia collection in the law library is named for him.

Mezzullo, with Mezzullo & Guare, was named top taxes, trusts and estates lawyer. He has a law degree from Richmond and is an adjunct law professor.

Walsh, with Hunton & Williams, was named top real estate/construction lawyer. He has a law degree from Richmond.

Virginia Business produced the list after a six-month process that surveyed the state's 5,500 lawyers. Its December 2000 issue announced the 300 most effective lawyers in the state as identified by their peers.
