Professors Selected for "Who's Who Among America's Teachers 2005"
June 10, 2005
“Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” has selected University of Richmond continuing studies professors Porcher L. Taylor III and Ellen M. Walk for its 2005 edition.
“Who’s Who” chooses educators from nominations by college students who themselves were previously selected for “Who’s Who Among American High School Students,” “Who's Who Among American High School Students-Sports Edition” and “The National Dean’s List.”
“I was surprised to be nominated, and I’m surprised now. You never know what kind of impact you have on a student. It makes teaching so much more rewarding,” said Taylor, who received the same honor in 1998.
Taylor is the only professor to have taught in all five of the university’s schools. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and earned a J.D. degree from the University of Florida College of Law. He has taught seven years at Richmond and chairs the paralegal studies program in the School of Continuing Studies.
Walk is assistant professor of information systems and academic program director of the information systems degree programs in the School of Continuing Studies. She graduated from the College of William and Mary with a bachelor of science in chemistry. She holds a master of business administration degree from Richmond and a doctorate from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Business.
