Citigroup Executive to Manage University of Richmond's $1.1 Billion Endowment

Srinivas Pulavarti has been named president of Spider Management Company, the University of Richmond’s investment management affiliate. As president, Pulavarti will serve as the university’s chief investment officer, overseeing a $1.1 billion endowment. Richmond’s endowment is one of the 50 largest endowments in the United States.
Pulavarti currently serves as director, global head of investment strategy for Citigroup, managing $14 billion in global pension assets. Prior to joining Citigroup, he was director of investments for the $2 billion Johns Hopkins University endowment.
He also worked as manager of investments and portfolio manager for Lockheed Martin Investment Management Co. and senior research analyst for Howard Hughes Medical Institute. He began his career as an economist and senior statistician for Investment Company Institute in Washington, D.C.
“We are delighted that Mr. Pulavarti will be leading our investment staff effective July 1,” said Herbert C. Peterson, vice president for business and finance. “He has extensive experience in the alternative investments area and will further enhance our investment strategy.”
Pulavarti holds a B.S. in mathematics, physics and chemistry from Bangalore University in India and an M.S. in applied and financial economics from Marquette University.
