TRIGON VIRGINIA SENIOR GAMES, "SENIOR EXPO" HEALTH FAIR AT UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND MAY 31 - JUNE 2

The first full day of the Trigon Virginia Senior Games takes place May 31 at the University of Richmond.

Hundreds of senior competitors from across the state-age 55 or older-will compete through June 2 in numerous sports, including bicycle racing, shot put, swimming, high jump and others.

Also May 31, a health expo sponsored by Bons Secours will offer all area seniors free health screenings, nutritional advice, suggestions for developing a personal fitness program and other helpful information. The expo takes place from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Robins Center ambulatory level. Admission is free and open to the public.

Reporters and photographers are invited to cover the athletic exploits. Some of the participants will represent Virginia in the national Senior Games in Baton Rouge, La., in July. Please contact our office for further information.

Following is a schedule of athletic events taking place on the campus May 31:

8 a.m. - men's tennis doubles; badminton singles; softball hit and throw; swimming (500-yard freestyle; 100-yard breaststroke; 50-yard butterfly); women's table tennis; men's and women's racquetball

1:30 p.m. - men's and women's 3-on-3 basketball; swimming (200-yard backstroke; 100-yard butterfly; 50-yard freestyle); badminton mixed doubles
