PROGRAM INFORMATION:
"The Fantasticks," directed by Rich Mason, is the first
production in the annual Hot Summer Nights Series sponsored by the
Modlin Center and the Department of Theatre and Dance.
Based on the theme "without a hurt, the heart is hollow," the play follows the "Romeo and Juliet"-like love story of a young boy and girl who eventually fall out, seek their fortunes, learn some painful lessons and come to appreciate a real, more mature love.
The book, music and lyrics were written by Tom Jones and Harvey Schmidt, and this production will feature Department of Theatre and Dance faculty member Walter Schoen as "Bellomy" and University of Richmond guest artist Jim Hillgartner as "Huckleby." Also appearing are Eric Dobbs, Sean Linfors, Jim Morgan, Samantha Pasquale, Joshua Paul and Christine Swan.
