University of Richmond will host domestic and sexual violence conference for law enforcement officers

July 22, 2009

Approximately 100 law enforcement officers from the greater Richmond area will receive training about domestic and sexual violence at a conference at the University of Richmond Aug. 5–6.
In the fourth annual conference of its kind at the university, officers will enhance their knowledge and skills in domestic violence homicide, social networking technologies, stalking, sexual assault and rape. They also will explore the connection between animal abuse and domestic violence and learn more about sexual victimization of college students, patrol responses to stalking, and updates in Virginia law regarding physical evidence recovery kit processes and sexual assault response teams.

The University of Richmond Police Department is sponsoring the conference, along with Henrico County Division of Police and the Chesterfield Police Department. It is limited to sworn law enforcement officers and costs $50 per person, which includes materials, lunch and refreshments both days.
