University of Richmond's Osher Institute to offer new courses, activities for area residents age 50 and older

July 29, 2008

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Richmond will offer more than 40 mini-courses during the September-November period to greater Richmond residents age 50 and older.

The classes, each lasting six hours or more, include anthropology, art, communication, dramatic arts, economics, history, information technology, literature, music, political science, religion, science and wellness. A highlight of fall offerings is a special program at the new Newseum, recently opened in Washington, D.C., which will include bus transportation.

Course descriptions, schedules and Osher Institute membership information are available online at scs.richmond.edu/osher or by calling (804) 287-6608.

Membership gives area residents age 50 and older access to the university's wide range of academic, cultural, library and recreation-wellness resources. More than 600 people have joined since the university's School of Continuing Studies launched the program in 2004. The Bernard Osher Foundation endowed the institute with a $1 million gift last year.
