University of Richmond Students Win Study Abroad Awards

Two University of Richmond students have received Gilman scholarships from the Institute of International Education to study in Oman and New Zealand. The grant is highly competitive, with 389 awards given from more than 1,000 applications.

Stephanie Lemus received $2,000 for the fall 2006 semester to study at the School for International Training in Oman, where she will participate in the “Diplomacy, Development and Identity in the Middle East” program. An international studies major with a world politics and diplomacy emphasis, she is from Jersey City, N.J.

Kimberly Huson received $3,000 for her fall 2006 semester at University of Otago in New Zealand, where she will study economics, history and geography. She is an economics and environmental studies double major and history minor from Salisbury, Md.
