Feminist scholar discusses militarization for Jepson/WILL forum Feb. 12

Cynthia Enloe, a leading researcher and author on feminism, militarization and globalization, will discuss "Leading with a Feminist Curiosity: How to Explore Our Militarized Culture" Feb. 12, 7 p.m., at the University of Richmond.

Enloe is chair of Clark University's government department and director of women's studies, specializing in race, class, ethnicity and nationalism, and the role of women's politics in national and international government policy. A contributor to Ms. Magazine and The Village Voice who has appeared on National Public Radio and the BBC, Enloe has lectured on the topic at several colleges and universities in the United States and abroad.

Enloe's latest book, "Maneuvers: The International Politics of Militarizing Women's Lives," examines how the interweaving of men's and women's gender roles in society contribute to militarism.

The program is the seventh of this year's jointly sponsored Jepson School of Leadership Studies/Women Involved in Living and Learning speaker series on Rhetoric & Reality: Race & Gender/Power & Politics.
